Sr. Research Scientist – Protein purification
Position type: full time

Description
 
Description/Key Responsibilities:  We are looking for a Sr. Scientist to conduct
independent protein purification projects, including purification of cytokines and growth
factors, soluble receptors, and enzymes. This position requires to develop new methods
for protein purification, conduct multi-milligram scale purifications of target proteins,
and deliver active proteins at very high levels of purity.
 
Qualifications: Ability to work as an independent research. Experience in using a wide
variety of protein purficication techniques, including affinity and classical purification
methods to produce active and highly purified proteins.  Experince to recover active
proteins through refolding is a plus. Excellent organization, communication, and record-
keeping skills.  a Ph.D. and post-doctoral experience including extensive purification and
analysis work over a number of different challenging proteins.

Manufacturer's Rep/Business Development [Reagents] - 100% commission

Are you looking for an opportunity to start your own manufacturer's rep business?  Do you
already have a good product line that you're carrying and want to add quality products to it?   Do
you have what it takes to be successful:  experience, ambition, motivation, account knowledge
and relationships?   Then we want to talk with you. 

BPS Bioscience is a growing San Diego-based manufacturer of high quality, innovative
recombinant enzymes and assay kits for life science research.  BPS also offers custom protein
expression and profiling and screening services.  

We are seeking to expand our sales channels via use of commission-based independent/
manufacturer’s representatives who will generate and qualify leads, make customer calls and
close deals in the biotech/biopharma marketplace.
 
Responsibilities include:
- Identify, quote, and close new business opportunities
- Build a pipeline for long term sales momentum
- Provide biweekly updates on forecasts and achievement of objectives and other business
  planning information. Leads and prospects will be primarily self-generated as well as some leads
  provided to you by BPS Bioscience. 
- Timely sales reports and contact with the company will be required. 
- Attendance at local/regional trade shows, vendor shows, and campus expos will be encouraged. 
- Monitor and address existing customer needs
 
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who has
- a demonstrated record of success in developing new markets and a strong relevant scientific
  background. 
- significant experience and an established network in the biotech, biopharma, and academic
  research markets. 
- knowledge of local University life sciences, biochemistry, chemistry lab locations along with
  government and private company locations. 
- Strong presentation, analytical and customer service skills complimented by an aggressive and
  solutions-oriented track record
 
Requirements: 
- B.S. degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field is required.  M.S.
  or Ph.D. a plus.
- Minimum one year Lab/research experience or demonstrated technical knowledge in cell
  biology, molecular biology, or biochemistry. 
- Minimum 2 years experience selling laboratory equipment or reagents into the academic,
  government, biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical markets. 
- Strong organizational, written, and presentation communication skills are essential.
- Individual must be organized, customer-focused, show initiative and drive, and have a solid
  work ethic.
- Minimal overnight travel (<5%) may be required.
